As a qualified Commercial Pilot you will be required to complete ongoing training and checking. This is an onerous part of a pilot’s life, but it ensures that safety and skills are both maintained.
Annual requirements are usually as follows:
- Annual Line Check – A scheduled flight, but this will be observed by a training captain who will observe for procedure compliance, knowledge and currency.
- Simulator Checks – Emergency and uncommon procedures are tested and trained.
- Ground School – Technical theory refresher, dangerous goods & security training and crew resource management (CRM).
- Annual Medical – Usually a yearly examination to check you are fit to fly.
