This is a relatively new course, which was introduced back on December 2019. It is now mandatory for pilots to complete the Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) before starting a type rating. UPRT includes both theoretical knowledge and flying training. It’s designed to give pilots the skills to prevent and deal with serious events such as stalls and spins.
Different levels of UPRT Courses:
Basic Course
The exercises of this course are integrated into all Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) training courses.
Advanced course (FCL.745.A)
The course comprises became mandatory after December 2019. Since that date all pilots starting their first type-rating training must complete this course. The Advanced UPRT course automatically forms part of the integrated ATPL and MPL training courses. If you have completed your training down the modular ATPL route, this course needs to be completed separately.
The Advanced UPTR course includes at least 5 hours of theoretical instruction as well as at least 3 hours of dual flight instruction, with the aim of enhancing the student’s preparedness for the psychological and physiological aspects associated with upset conditions.
