Modular Training

The Modular Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) route is where you complete your training in stages. Training costs can vary, but are usually between £40,000-£70,000. Additionally, when you have completed training, depending on the airline you may have to pay up to £35,000 for a type rating. Type rating is specific training so you can fly a certain type of aircraft.

Modular training involves gaining the following qualifications.

  • Flexible – Your training can be completed in stages and over a time period to suit you.
  • Cost – Can be upto £50,000 cheaper, when compared to the integrated route.
  • Job limiting – Some airlines may prefer candidates that have completed an Integrated ATPL course.
  • Time – This route could potentially take longer to complete, when compared to the integrated route.
