Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL)

The Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) is quite rare, but specifically designed and is restricted to operating as a co-pilot on a multi pilot aircraft. The MPL Course is always linked to one specific airline and includes a type rating for initial issue.

Usually a typical course would consist of:

  • 250 hours flying (80 hours of flying & 170 hours on simulators)
  • 750 hours Ground School

Once you have met the perquisite experience and gained experience on your type of aircraft, you can then apply for the ATPL. Once this has been issued, you are entitled to operate as Pilot in Command on multi crew aircraft.

Tip Jar

You are relying on one specific airline to see you through the training, and if they go bankrupt or make redundancies you may not be able to complete your training and could cause you problems.
